Seasonal Events
Maundy Thursday: Commemorate the Last Supper and Christ’s crucifixion during a service of Holy Communion, preaching, and Tenebrae held on the Thursday before Easter, accompanied by the Chancel Choir.
Easter: We celebrate Palm Sunday and Easter services with magnificent organ music and brass instruments, accompanied by the Chancel Choir. An Easter egg hunt on the east lawn follows the service.
Spring Music Sunday: An ensemble of instrumentalists joins the Chancel Choir in presenting a major choral work. Join us this year for Chilcott’s “Requiem” on Sun., Apr. 14 at 3:00 p.m.
Ice Cream Social: This fun July tradition brings neighbors together in community to share free ice cream and desserts, and enjoy live jazz musicians and entertainment for children.
Family Movie on the Lawn: Each summer, families gather to enjoy a showing of a family feature film on the church lawn, complete with popcorn and treats.
Pumpkin Patch: Trinity’s annual fundraiser, Pumpkin Patch, raises funds for a wide variety of charities sponsored by the church, while also providing a wonderful fall outing for families, where they can photograph their children among thousands of beautiful fresh pumpkins while selecting fall decor for their home.
Trunk or Treat: This safe Halloween experience for families allows children to play games and trick-or-treat from the decorated trunks of church members’ vehicles in Trinity Wilmette’s parking lot.
Consecration Sunday: Each November, a grateful congregation gathers together for a celebratory dinner after church to honor the generosity of annual pledge donors whose gifts sustain church activities throughout the year.
Advent Music Sunday: The Chancel Choir is joined by an ensemble of instrumentalists to present a major choral work as part of Sunday morning worship at 10:30 am.
Trombone Concert: Charlie Vernon, a trombonist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and member of Trinity Wilmette, together with a dozen or more of his trombone-playing friends, lead the congregation in carol singing and entertainment with seasonal favorites, under the direction of Alison Vernon. This event is a benefit concert for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Live Nativity: In December, live animals, including a camel, donkey, and sheep, accompany an intergenerational cast in the Sanctuary to tell the Christmas story and sing Christmas carols to bring the message of Christ’s birth to life for all ages.
Christmas Eve: Two candlelight services on Christmas Eve celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The 5:00 p.m. service features a Children’s Message and our Youth Choir, and the 7:30 p.m. service features the Chancel Choir.
