Meet Our New Pastoral Intern!
We are pleased to announce Dan Cobb as our new pastoral intern, effective May 17, 2026! After Dan transferred his membership to Trinity Wilmette, he officially began his candidacy for ordained ministry with our recommendation. Dan is a professor emeritus of American studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and he has just completed his first year at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Send Dan a welcome message (dan@trinitywilmette.org).
A Note from Dan:
It is a great privilege to be serving as Pastoral Intern at Trinity Wilmette as I work toward the completion of my M.Div. at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and ordination as an elder in the United Methodist Church. I spent the past two decades as a professor in public universities, where I specialized in Native American and Indigenous Studies. What drew me to the academy was my desire to live the life of the mind–to study, to engage critically, to build and be in community, to research, to write, and to serve. I am grateful for the opportunities afforded by Garrett and Trinity Wilmette to continue living this life but in a different manner. As I answer the call to Christian thought and practice through pastoral ministry, I will be continuing my family’s deep tradition by becoming the sixth consecutive generation to be ordained in the United Methodist Church. I look forward to learning from and deepening my faith alongside the pastoral leadership team, staff, and congregation.
